Zucchini Soup

My next concoction to use up the massive amounts of zucchini our garden produced (after sharing some of the goods with a friend) was to make a zucchini cheddar soup. Sauteed zucchini, onion and garlic with some Italian seasoning before adding water to boil and blending with my immersion blender to make it creamy. Final touch was some shredded cheese and voila! Super EASY! Needless to say, we’ll be eating like royalty at our house for at least the next …

Art Project #1

Trying to come up with art projects for our homeschooling adventure has proven to be one of the easiest things to do and the most fun. ArtForKidsHub on YouTube is a fan favorite when it comes to step by step drawing for any expertise level. Our first art project was a drawing of a starfish the kiddos picked out – ArtForKidsHub-Starfish – which I’m sure was more geared for the youngest learner in our household. After some reluctance from Clarita, …

Recipe Ideas, Please 🙏

Having grown a huge harvest of tomatoes I have run out of ideas to use for them. My latest recipe was for a tomato soup which included green peppers (also home grown), onion and garlic topped with cheese which was approved by my kids. Any new recipes to use up more of our stash are gladly welcomed 💕 #RomankoClarita #LotsofLove

Bubble Fun

PE couldn’t be any easier than taking regular Tues/Thur classes of Ju Jitsu at our beloved Threshold Marital Arts in Mount Prospect, IL 💕 Recently, waiting outside for Ju Jitsu class during some rain the kiddos decided to start blowing bubbles out the back window all the while they are flying back into the car through the front window! #RomankoClarita #LotsofLove

Reading Comprehension

Trying to come up with various educational materials for the kiddos to keep up with while moving forward on our homeschool journey, I researched many sources and worked diligently to come up with some curriculums that resembled what Romanko was used to from school while also trying to be challenging. Therefore, I decided to assign him the book “Wish” by Barbara O’Connor to complete a weekly chapter(s) to read through with some comprehension questions to answer after. Once he has …

Tower of Books Challenge

For our homeschool year, we’ve decided to do a Tower of Books Challenge as we continue our adventure. Creating a space in each kiddo’s room to enjoy the school year reading a compilation of various books, I was able to find a tool on Etsy to help us accomplish this task. We have decided to go with “Quirky Categories” for our Tower Books Challenge. Our list of books includes: So far so good and we’ll continue to update the list …

Here we come… 3rd Grade and Kindergarten

Let the FUN begin! The first official day of school in our district was August 11, 2021 and so we decided to just go with that as our first date of our new adventure. Romanko would have been starting 3rd grade and Clarita would have been starting Kindergarten, the introduction to the public school system, but under very different circumstances then you would normally think of for a first day of anything. Standing by our decision to un-enroll the kids …

Homeschool Adventures

2020 was NOT at all a typical year, but what it did do was open my eyes to how much I was missing out on spending time with my kids because I was prioritizing the wrong things. After hearing the FINAL reopening plan by our school board for Fall 2021, our family had made the decision to un-enroll the kiddos from school officially and begin our change in direction. Don’t ask what was the straw that broke the camels back …

We’ve Got a Garden

So excited for the haul our garden this year has been providing us! The kids have been so excited to help harvest while also enjoying some new recipes using the home grown ingredients we’ve been implementing in our diet. First time ever planting Yellow Pear Tomatoes so we only did one this year, but honestly it was probably even more preferred over the traditional cherry tomatoes so definitely investing in more next year. Great snack to mix them both together …
