Today’s topic of discussion for art class was South America and included molding a pinch pot out of clay. I’ll update with a final picture once they have dried after 24-48 hrs 😁 Although we definitely missed cooking class today, it was exciting that both kiddos got to enjoy a little bit of Spanish practice together. Perfecto! Typically just C does the Spanish but this week R got to appreciate it as well. They did a little painting to go …

Math Monday 04.04.22
As I’ve highlighted previously, our daily schedule, though mostly fluid, typically consists of Math Mondays and today is no different except that Clarita finished all her Time4Learning online curriculum for both last week and this week LAST week… so today workbooks it is! I figured its as good of a time as any to enter the realm of subtraction with our Kindergartner and I must say that I could not be any more proud of her 😍 Despite some reluctance …
A Breath of Fresh Air
Sometimes homeschooling looks just like this 😄 Put the pencils down and let’s get outside 🌞 Start the morning off with sunnyside up eggs, smashed avocado on the side and can’t forget those vities 😍 Follow that with our weekly spelling quiz which today’s list included words ending in suffix -ful or -fully 🤗 After a long productive week and with beautiful (one of today’s spelling words – ding ding) weather finally headed our way it was time to take …
Art Project #2
Week 2 was a drawing of candy corn – ArtForKidsHub-CandyCorn – I think Romanko may be getting a little comfortable with these easy drawings now! Here are our final products! Definitely going to work on a little more challenging projects next week! #RomankoClarita #LotsofLove
Lake Opeka Learn Day
What a beautiful day out today! As such, we decided to take our homeschooling on the road today – I have decided to now dub it “Field Trip Tuesdays” – partially because of the weather, but mainly so we can give dad well needed quiet time while he’s working from home. Today’s Learn Day was to Lake Opeka in Des Plaines, IL. Our day started with a nice walk around the lake before beginning our studies. After our walk the …
Art Project #1
Trying to come up with art projects for our homeschooling adventure has proven to be one of the easiest things to do and the most fun. ArtForKidsHub on YouTube is a fan favorite when it comes to step by step drawing for any expertise level. Our first art project was a drawing of a starfish the kiddos picked out – ArtForKidsHub-Starfish – which I’m sure was more geared for the youngest learner in our household. After some reluctance from Clarita, …
Bubble Fun
PE couldn’t be any easier than taking regular Tues/Thur classes of Ju Jitsu at our beloved Threshold Marital Arts in Mount Prospect, IL 💕 Recently, waiting outside for Ju Jitsu class during some rain the kiddos decided to start blowing bubbles out the back window all the while they are flying back into the car through the front window! #RomankoClarita #LotsofLove
Reading Comprehension
Trying to come up with various educational materials for the kiddos to keep up with while moving forward on our homeschool journey, I researched many sources and worked diligently to come up with some curriculums that resembled what Romanko was used to from school while also trying to be challenging. Therefore, I decided to assign him the book “Wish” by Barbara O’Connor to complete a weekly chapter(s) to read through with some comprehension questions to answer after. Once he has …
Tower of Books Challenge
For our homeschool year, we’ve decided to do a Tower of Books Challenge as we continue our adventure. Creating a space in each kiddo’s room to enjoy the school year reading a compilation of various books, I was able to find a tool on Etsy to help us accomplish this task. We have decided to go with “Quirky Categories” for our Tower Books Challenge. Our list of books includes: So far so good and we’ll continue to update the list …
Here we come… 3rd Grade and Kindergarten
Let the FUN begin! The first official day of school in our district was August 11, 2021 and so we decided to just go with that as our first date of our new adventure. Romanko would have been starting 3rd grade and Clarita would have been starting Kindergarten, the introduction to the public school system, but under very different circumstances then you would normally think of for a first day of anything. Standing by our decision to un-enroll the kids …
